It should be reminded that today the legislation prescribes the introduction of value added tax on cars from the beginning of the next year, 2026. But both among market participants and specialists there are big doubts about the readiness for such radical changes. Therefore, amendments to the legislation and postponement of the implementation dates are possible.
The Ministry of Finance has no final position on this issue yet. As Logos Press was explained in the ministry, the administration of this tax requires more tools, which are currently not available in Moldova. Whether and for how long the deadlines for the introduction of VAT on cars will be extended will depend on whether the state will have time to prepare them, including an information base for tracking customs procedures.
