Last month, the largest amount of this product was shipped to Russia (9.6 thousand tons, $7.1 mln, $0.74/kg) and Romania (6.6 thousand tons, $4.7 mln, $0.70/kg). Among the major buyers of Moldovan apple are also Belarus (875 tons, $0.57 mln, $0.65/kg), UAE (202 tons, $1.7 mln, $0.85/kg), Ukraine (almost 200 tons, $0.15 mln, $0.76/kg), Kyrgyzstan (185 tons, $0.11 mln, $0.60/kg).
For March, the total exports mentioned above are at the average level of the last four years. The maximum level of March exports is 41 thousand tons (2019).
In February this year, the country exported about 13 thousand tons of apples, a figure below the five-year average for this month. Moldova exported the largest amount of these fruits (almost 34 thousand tons) in February of the same year 2019.
Moldova Fruct experts assume that in April-May, the volume of apple exports will noticeably decrease. Nevertheless, almost all marketable residuals of apple harvest-2024 will most likely be sold to the external and domestic “fresh market”, i.e. supplies of apple for processing will be minimal.
