“I want to thank you very much. You’ve done a great thing. You and your friend. I think they’ve become friends. Stand up. You think it was easy? It wasn’t easy. These are two complicated but good people,” Trump said, as quoted by Newsarmenia.

According to him, the meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev took place in the Oval Office. Pashinyan and Aliyev are attending the Peace Council these days.

“They were standing at different sides of the room. I asked: can you come closer? They were uncomfortable. They had been killing each other for 32 years. An hour later, they were side by side, and we made a deal. They hugged, we signed, and we made peace. It’s beautiful, thank you,” Trump concluded.

A more detailed transcript of Trump’s speech is provided by Azertag. The publication notes that after thanking the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia for establishing peace in the region, the US president said: “You know, any war is hundreds of times more expensive than the establishment of peace.”
