According to the information of Chisinau City Hall, 2 additional sensors will soon be installed on the Dacia Boulevard – Ciuflea Street section. For this purpose, strategically important points will be identified to ensure full visibility of traffic flows in the area. The new devices are characterized by high performance and are designed to collect important data in real time, without recording images and violating the privacy of road users.
The sensors, in particular, record the total number of vehicles crossing the intersections, determine their directions and classify them by type: cars, public transport, heavy vehicles, bicycles, etc.
In the coming months, CMD specialists will analyze the collected data to develop a digital model of the intersection, which will recreate a detailed and accurate simulation of real-time traffic behavior.
This model will form the basis for testing traffic optimization scenarios, including adjustments to traffic light timing, lane reorganization and other measures aimed at reducing congestion, improving road safety and urban mobility.
Using modern technologies and collecting real-time data, CMD contributes to the development of a smart city whose infrastructure is adapted to the real needs of residents.
The center was established in the fall of 2024 with EU support as part of the “MOVE IT like Lublin” project, implemented in partnership with the City Hall of Lublin, Poland. The total budget of the project is 3.5 million euros, of which 3.3 million euros is the EU grant and 175 thousand euros is the contribution of Chisinau City Hall.
