Trade with the EU may be simplified

The essence of the initiative is simple: if a product is accepted and launched on the market in an EU member state, it can enter the Moldovan market without additional procedures. And vice versa (if, of course, the EU also agrees with this approach).

Moldovan companies will be able to export products to EU countries more easily, and the exchange of information will help to eliminate unnecessary barriers to trade. At the same time, Moldova will be able to prevent possible trade blockages caused by differences between national legislation and European norms.

The information will be transmitted through a special European system – the Information System of Technical Regulations. Thus, the European Commission and other member states will be able to check before adoption whether the regulations proposed in Moldova comply with the European rules.

Moreover, this procedure will give companies the opportunity to express their opinion on regulations that may affect their business – even before they come into force.

Through this mechanism, the government wants to support Moldovan companies’ access to the EU internal market, increase the transparency of the legislative process, encourage the involvement of the business environment and improve the quality of national legislation.

The implementation of this measure is part of Moldova’s commitment to implement the Law on Mutual Recognition of Goods and represents a concrete step towards a wider integration of our country into the single European market and supporting the development of the national economy.
