As reported by the National Institute of Statistics of Spain (INE), in quantitative terms, the growth in the number of tourists in January increased by 70 thousand people compared to the figures of a year ago.

Growth in daily spending

The total amount of spending by tourists arriving in the Canary Islands exceeded € 2.2 billion. The average daily spending of tourists increased by 6.9% and amounted to about € 190 per day. The increase in tourist arrivals helped to maintain the growth in total spending.

The “spoon of tar” in the indicators was the average length of stay. In January, tourists did not stay in the archipelago, on average, for more than 8.1 days, which is 7.6% less than in 2025.

Spanish No. 1

The Canary Islands remain the largest destination for international tourists in Spain. They accounted for around 27.8% of the country’s tourist traffic in January. The largest share comes from the UK (897,000), Germany (527,000) and France (518,000).
