The incident occurred at around 01:30 local time. in the two-story Le Constellation establishment. One or more explosions were heard in the basement, followed by a fire. According to one version, the fire may have been caused by pyrotechnics used during the concert, Blick notes.
The law enforcement agencies did not specify the exact number of victims, as well as information about the cause of the incident.
Emergency services are working at the scene, helicopters are involved, a hotline for relatives of victims and injured is open. The police announced a press conference. RTS source calls what happened a “major disaster”, potentially comparable in number of victims to the bus accident in the Swiss city of Sierra in 2012, then 28 people were killed. As the publication points out, Le Constellation can accommodate up to 400 people.
