Deputies today approved a number of draft laws which will have an impact on the business environment. One of them concerns a simplified mechanism for the abolition of VAT payer status for small and micro-enterprises.
It is proposed to introduce provisions in the Tax Code to support the economic entities that do not reach the established threshold of 1.7 million lei to register as VAT payers.
The draft prescribes an accelerated procedure of withdrawal of enterprises from this status. According to the initiative, the State Tax Service will have 10 working days to consider the applications, and the remaining tax liabilities can be repaid in installments over a period of up to 12 months.
In addition to the measure, the commission discussed two emergency bills drafted in response to rising prices in the petroleum products market. Among the solutions proposed and supported in the commission is the reduction of the VAT rate on fuel from 20% to 12% while reducing excise duties by 50%.
The commission members also supported an alternative draft that would establish a reduced VAT rate of 10% on petroleum products, applicable as a temporary stabilization measure.
The drafts supported by the commission will be submitted for further consideration at the plenary session of Parliament.
