The second “Vernissage of Wines” was held in Japan

The event was organized by the National Bureau of Grapes and Wine (NBG&W) with the support of the Wine of Moldova Japan team. It gave an opportunity to Japanese experts in wine and winemaking to discover the diversity, authenticity and quality of Moldovan wines, the MAIA Ministry of Agriculture and Processing Industry said in a press release.

Attending the opening of the Vernissage were Sergiu Guerciu, MAIA secretary general, Stefan Iamandi, director of the National Bureau of Grapes and Wine, and Dumitru Socolan, Moldovan ambassador to Japan.

According to the NBG&W, Japan is becoming a strategic market for Moldovan winemakers, as evidenced by the constant growth of exports to the Land of the Rising Sun in recent years. While in 2023 the total volume of Moldovan wine products supplied to the Japanese market amounted to 209 thousand liters, in 2024 exports almost doubled and reached 409 thousand liters. The upward trend continues in 2025, when only in the first eight months more than 337 thousand liters of wine were supplied to the Japanese market.
