For example, the National Anti-Corruption Center conducted 40 tests as part of official and disciplinary investigations. The Ministry of the Interior tested 134 individuals in the course of operational and investigative activities. The Information and Security Service assessed the reliability of information provided by 90 individuals, including candidates for officer positions, participants in official investigations and inspections. The State Protection Service conducted 21 behavior simulation detector tests.
Compared to previous years, there has been a positive trend in the number of tests. This is explained, among other things, by the accreditation of a new polygraphologist in 2024, which allowed to expand the team of specialists and reduce the waiting time for examinations.
Victor Filip, Chairman of the State Commission on Polygraph Testing, emphasized that there are few polygraph specialists in the country – only 6 certified and 3 assistants – and training of new personnel is a key task.
“There are very few polygraphologists in the country, each of them must have psychological knowledge and, importantly, prior training is required for certification. We have no institutions to train such specialists,” Filip said.
At the meeting of the National Security, Defense and Public Order Commission, the need to adjust the regulatory framework to the EU requirements was highlighted. In this sense, a draft to amend the current legislation will be presented.
