
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, growth was 0.7%.
In the first three months of this year, the most significant increase in the number of employees occurred in the HoReCa sector. In particular, in sectors such as catering, reception and accommodation services the NBS recorded an increase of 17.4%. In construction, the number of employees increased by 10.1%. At approximately the same level, the growth of employment in mining and quarrying – 9.8%.
At the same time, the decrease in the average number of employees in Q1 2025 compared to the beginning of 2024 occurred in such activities as transportation and storage – by 5.0%. As well as other service activities (activities of employers’ organizations, trade unions, repair of computers and other items of personal use, provision of personal services, etc.) – by 4.7%. The number of employees in the analyzed period in the manufacturing industry decreased by 4.6%.
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, the average number of employees increased in such activities as provision of accommodation and catering services – by 11.6%, professional, scientific and technical activities – by 4.8%, and information technology and communications – by 3.4%.
A decrease in the average number of employees in Q1 2025 compared to Q4 2024 was recorded in agriculture, forestry and fisheries – by 2.9%. The number of employees also decreased in transportation and storage services, as well as in manufacturing industries – by 2.5%.
According to the NBS data for 2024, the number of employed people in Moldova amounted to 853.9 thousand people, and the unemployment rate did not exceed 4%.
