Thus, in just six years, the segment of electric cars and hybrids has grown more than 16 times. For example, 5.7 thousand electric cars and 51.5 thousand hybrids were registered in 2024. The number of electric vehicles has grown almost exponentially over the past six years, given that only 47 such vehicles were registered in 2018.
In addition, the trend of increasing numbers of hybrid vehicles is particularly strong in 2024 compared to the previous period, when the hybrid fleet was expanded by around 18 thousand new units, i.e. by more than 50% compared to 2023.
Taking into account existing trends as well as global trends, iData forecasts that the electric and hybrid vehicle fleet in Moldova could exceed 100 thousand units by 2026 or, at the latest, by 2027.
