In Moldova, wine is part of its identity, history and economy. And in recent years, the wine industry has registered significant growth, thanks to the quality of wine products and the modernization of the tourism infrastructure. There are more than 250 wineries in the country, offering high quality products and some of them also unique experiences for visitors from all over the world.
Moreover, Moldova has created its name in the wine world not only thanks to its terroir and thousands of years of tradition, but also to the international recognition gained over the last decades. Over the last five years, Moldovan wines have won thousands of medals at the most prestigious international competitions – Berliner Wine Trophy, Mundus Vini, Decanter World Wine Awards, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and other renowned competitions around the world. An important step in promoting the industry on the international market was the establishment in 2013 of the National Bureau of Grapes and Wine. National Bureau of Grapes and Wine and the national brand “Wine of Moldova. A legend alive”. From 2024 – “Wine of Moldova. Unexpectedly Great”.
“The National Bureau of Grape and Wine is responsible for promoting Moldovan wines on export markets under the national brand “Wine of Moldova. Unexpectedly Great”. Our goal is to unite local wine producers, to promote the export of wines to international markets and to guarantee the high quality of wines, ensuring its strict control,” said Stefan Yamandi, Director of the NBV&WB.
