On Wednesday, 1 April, the government amended a decision on the procedure for applying tax and customs exemptions for the implementation of ongoing technical and investment assistance projects covered by international treaties. The amendments were made due to the launch of 54 new foreign assistance projects.
“Among these projects stands out the reconstruction of the social center in the city of Leova, providing for the restoration and modernization of the building to provide services to socially vulnerable categories of the population. About 600 people will benefit from the center’s services. Another important project is related to the education sector: it is planned to rehabilitate the Dmitri Cantemir Gymnasium in the Stefan Voda district, in order to improve the conditions for pupils and teachers,” Liliana Dabija, deputy secretary-general of the government, said at the cabinet meeting.
It is worth mentioning that the tax exemption is a precondition set by a number of donors for the transfer of the advance or the first tranche of the grant funds to the beneficiaries. This refers to a set of exemptions and exemptions from income tax, excise duties, customs duties and fees for customs procedures, environmental charges for goods whose use pollutes the environment, as well as the application of VAT exemption with the right to deduct for goods and services.
However, 29 completed projects are being removed from the list, as confirmed by donors and beneficiaries.
“In addition to improving living conditions, these projects also contributed to the creation of a favorable environment for agricultural production, increased production capacity, training and adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, as well as other effective benefits,” Dabija specified.
