The Interreg NEXT budget will increase by 20 million euros

The non-refundable financial assistance provided within the Interreg NEXT Romania - Republic of Moldova Program 2021-2027 will be increased by 20 million euros. The necessary changes were approved by the Moldovan government on April 23," Logos Press reported.

The Interreg NEXT budget will increase by 20 million euros

Thus, the total budget of the Program will amount to 97.3 million euros. These funds are intended for joint projects implemented by Romanian and Moldovan partners in areas such as health, education, tourism, culture, climate change, good governance and border management.

A new call for projects within Interreg NEXT is scheduled for the end of April 2025.

Also on April 23, the government approved the allocation of 20 million euros to the budget of the EU-funded Interreg Black Sea Basin Transnational Program for 2021-2027.

This program, with a total budget of 85 million euros, brings together 8 states, including Moldova, and is aimed at supporting research and innovation projects, climate change adaptation, disaster risk prevention, nature protection and strengthening relations between communities.

The Republic of Moldova has already accessed substantial funding under this program: in the first round, 10 projects were selected for a total amount of €1.5 million, and in the second round – 13 projects for a total amount of €3.7 million.

The Interreg NEXT VIA Romania – Republic of Moldova 2021-2027 program is funded by the EU and aims to support cross-border cooperation in the border area. It covers the counties of Botosani, Iasi, Vaslui and Galati in Romania, as well as the whole territory of the Republic of Moldova. Potential beneficiaries are regional and local authorities, public institutions, educational structures, NGOs or other organizations relevant to each specific objective included in the call.
