The International Organization for Migration handed over equipment to the Moldovan customs service

Moldovan Customs and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will continue close cooperation aimed at facilitating the exchange of international experience, digitalizing processes and equipping with modern control equipment in order to optimize operational activities and strengthen cross-border security.

This was agreed upon by the director of the CU, Radu Vrabie and the head of the IOM in Moldova, Esther Ruiz de Azua, during a working meeting on March 16.

Radu Vrabie emphasized that the support provided by the IOM mission, including in the form of technical and operational assistance, has made a significant contribution to strengthening the institutional capacity and enhancing the sustainability of the customs system in a regional context characterized by numerous challenges.

For her part, Esther Ruiz de Asúa praised the progress made in bringing the customs sector in line with European standards, reiterating her willingness to support customs authorities in realizing the objectives of European integration.

The Customs Service received a donation of equipment from IOM Moldova, financed by the European Union, the CU press service said.

The donation batch includes two cars and computer equipment, which will contribute to increasing the mobility of operational teams and optimizing the work of the services in the field.
