The JCAM62 movement, developed entirely in-house, was an engineering marvel, writes Robb Report. In addition to the music box, it includes a minute flying tourbillon and two power reserve indicators, one of which controls the energy for the music function.
The design of the watch has also undergone significant changes. The case has become rectangular in the Art Deco style and has been reduced to 42mm, instead of the round and larger case of the previous model. Rose gold is used for the case, and the black lacquered dial is complemented by minimalist references to Don Corleone: the silhouette of his face and a red rose on the lapel. The caseback is engraved with bullet holes, while a piano-shaped sapphire crystal allows you to watch the music box in action.
Founder Jacob Arabo, who came to the U.S. from Uzbekistan, recalls that he saw the first Godfather at age 14, which inspired him to create the unique timepiece.
The Godfather II will be a limited edition of only 74 pieces priced at $440,000 each, combining luxury, high mechanics and homage to the iconic movie.
