From 2019 to 2025, Chisinau authorities allocated 96.735 million lei from the municipal budget for sports events. Six years ago, they accounted for 6.676 million lei, a year later the expenses decreased by 1.5 million lei, and in 2025 they increased 3.7 times compared to 2019 (see graph).
In the draft municipal budget for 2025, the expenses for sports events amounted to 25.047 million lei, the same as a year earlier. The most significant expenditure items are the allocation of bonuses to athletes who won prizes at international competitions (2.2 million lei), the organization of the Chișinăul Sportiv festival (1.2 million lei) and the municipal soccer tournament (300,000 lei). Also, 6.67 million lei was earmarked for the modernization of sports halls in educational institutions, the amount included in the education expenses.
