According to Caroline Linte, director of the Lapte Patronage Association of Milk and Dairy Producers, subsidies to industrial livestock farms, which are authorized by the ANSA Food Safety Agency, are provided for every kilogram of milk turned in for processing by dairies. They have encouraged beneficiaries to increase production through more and better quality feed. Especially since in the post-pandemic period the prices for cereals and legumes, as well as for some other feeds in Moldova and the Black Sea region have slightly decreased.
On the other hand, the Lapte administration believes that there are still major deficiencies in the welfare and health of dairy cows in the Moldovan dairy sector, due to which their productivity remains low. This problem needs to be focused on not only by farm owners, but also by ANSA structures.
Earlier, Logos Press reported that despite the increase in milk production in agricultural enterprises by 22.6%, in farms of all categories the production of this product in general decreased by 0.3% (as a result of the reduction of milk production in household farms by 5.3%).
