The state budget for 2026 includes a sum of 580.38 million lei for social payments. It already takes into account the upcoming indexation, so no budget adjustments will be needed.
The amount of social assistance depends on the minimum guaranteed monthly income. Starting April 1 this year, the minimum will amount to 1,869 lei for adults and 1,944 lei for children. These amounts are calculated according to the indexation coefficient, as well as taking into account the inflation rate at the end of the previous year, expressed as the increase in consumer prices in December compared to the same month of the previous year. At that time, it amounted to 6.84%.
Indexation of the minimum guaranteed monthly income is carried out annually on April 1 as part of the general mechanism of indexation of insurance payments and social assistance.
