
According to the Ministry of Energy, this overhead transmission line will allow Moldova to benefit from a more stable, efficient and less dependent on unreliable energy sources, while supporting the development of renewable energy sources.
The construction of the Balti-Sucava line is part of the national strategy for interconnection with the ENTSO-E continental European energy system. The tender announced by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is open to all eligible companies and is being conducted on the ECEPP procurement platform. The deadline for submitting bids is September 15.
The project, with a total estimated value of €77 million, is being financed from several sources: a €15.4 million grant from the European Union through the EBRD; a €30.8 million loan from the EBRD; and a similar €30.8 million loan from the European Investment Bank.
The construction of the 400 kV Balti-Sucava high-voltage transmission line, along with the modernization of the Balti 330 kV substation and the construction of a new 400 kV substation, was recently declared a project of national importance in Moldova.
