Gasoline will become cheaper by 2 bani and will cost 29.75 lei per liter, while diesel fuel will increase in price by 80 bani – to 33.80 lei per liter.
In these conditions, the Moldovan authorities refused to reduce fuel excise taxes for all citizens, considering it unfair, and preferred targeted assistance to farmers.
The Moldovan government says it is implementing a mechanism of 100% refund of excise duties on diesel fuel for farmers used from March 1 to May 31, 2026. The assistance will cover about 3,000 farms in crop and livestock production, with 110 million lei allocated from the Reserve Fund. The reimbursement is meant to reduce the cost of production.
Nobody knows what to do for the rest of the car owners, transporters and other economic entities yet.
