Out of this sum, 300 million lei will be distributed to beneficiaries in the form of advance payments, while 170 million lei – as direct payments. Besides, 13.91 million lei were approved for transfer from the government’s fund to the accounts of farmers who suffered damage due to spring frosts and summer storms in the form of financial assistance, the Agriculture and Food Ministry said in a press release.
Advance payments are given to farmers following the results of the contest of investment projects. Direct payments are additional payments to livestock farmers for each kilogram of milk delivered for industrial processing by dairy factories and for each head of animals kept on farms authorized by the National Agency for Food Safety ANSA.
Representatives of grower organizations said the payments approved by AIPA last week were among the largest and likely the last of the year. The 2025 budget for the National Agricultural and Rural Support Fund has been exhausted.
However, this week the parliament will apparently revise the state budget for the last time this year. As part of this process, the mentioned 2025 fund for the support of agrarians will be replenished by 50 million lei, which were not used from the special fund for the support of insolvent agricultural enterprises in the process of their restructuring. By the way, the parliamentary opposition proposed to increase the fund by 500 million lei, but in vain.
It is symbolic that the process of approving large subsidy payments to agrarians coincided with their professional holiday – the Day of Agricultural Worker, which is celebrated annually on the fourth Sunday of November.
