The government approved the relevant regulation at a meeting on September 24. Under this mechanism, financed goods and services will be transferred free of charge on the basis of receipt documents and tax invoices. The recipients will be obliged to properly use and maintain the received goods, while the Ministry of Energy will control the correctness of the Regulation’s implementation.
Thus, the government intends to accelerate the implementation of energy efficiency projects and improve the living conditions of citizens. The application of the simplified rules will lead to lower consumer costs and increased efficiency of public buildings.
The Moldovan Residential Energy Efficiency Fund is a national program with a budget of 1.4 billion lei designed to finance energy rehabilitation projects in the residential building stock in Moldova. Both high-rise buildings and individual households can be included in the program. Over the next three years, more than half a million square meters of housing will be rehabilitated, of which about 75% will be residential buildings and 25% will be individual houses, which will save up to 40% of energy.
It should be recalled that several important energy efficiency projects have been initiated in Moldova in recent years, including the renovation of 30 public buildings, energy rehabilitation of 46 schools across the country, modernization of 10 hospitals and 11 health care buildings, including hospitals in Floresti, Ialoveni and Nisporeni.
