The amendments provide for an extension of the VAT refund period until December 2026 and simplification of the procedure itself.
“The goal is to provide agrarians with liquid funds in order to minimize emerging risks – logistical and price risks – and for the spring campaign to start with less difficulties for agricultural producers,” said Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga.
At the same time, a draft government resolution has been elaborated, which envisages the return of 100% of the excise tax on diesel fuel used in the spring agricultural campaign. This measure should reduce pressure on the price of fuel.
“In the long term, I hope we will be able to implement this as early as next year. Our goal is to bring the level of excise tax refunds in agriculture to 90%, and to make the VAT refund mechanism a regular practice rather than a temporary and urgent measure,” said Finance Minister Andrian Gavrilita.
The measures were developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry together with the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Service.
“The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry will always be close to the agrarians and will act promptly to support their activities and minimize the pressure and risks in agriculture,” Minister Catlabuga added.
