In the 3.6 km distance, Tarnovski crossed the finish line 15 minutes 42.3 seconds after the start, 19.43 seconds behind the winner, Jaime Duro of Spain. The Moldovan canoeist was 6.3 seconds ahead of Balazs Adolf, who won the bronze medal.

The race was attended by 20 canoeists from 14 countries. Oleg Tarnovsky, Sergei’s older brother, also competed in the race, finishing 11th in 16 minutes 48.24 seconds.

About 500 rowers from more than 40 countries are taking part in the World Rowing Marathon Championships, which will run until September 7. For the first time in the history of the competition, para-canoe races will be counted as official medal disciplines.

Logos Press reported that at the recent World Rowing Championships in Milan, Italy, 28-year-old Sergey Tarnovsky won gold and bronze medals, thus becoming a three-time world champion (2022, 2024, 2025). He is also a two-time Olympic bronze medalist (2021, 2024) and a two-time European champion (2024, 2025) in canoe single sculls.
