Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the new contract was concluded on “very favorable conditions for us.” He also emphasized that the new agreements with Moscow will allow Serbia to become the second or third country in Europe with the lowest gas price, notes RBC.
According to the President, the pricing will be based on a formula linked to oil quotations. Gas will be supplied on flexible terms, which will allow Serbia to adapt to changes in the energy market.
According to RBC, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier in a conversation with journalists that Moscow is ready to remain a reliable supplier of energy resources for all world markets, including the European market.
“Russia has been and is ready to continue to be a reliable supplier of energy resources to world markets, including European markets,” the spokesman specified, emphasizing that this is especially true for brotherly countries such as Serbia.
Russian natural gas has been supplied to Serbia since 1978. Since 2021, after the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine was stopped, gas has been supplied to Serbia through the Turkish Stream offshore pipeline and further through Turkey and Bulgaria.
