According to its founder Florin Enceanu, the store has developed a strategy for 2026 based on three pillars, one of which is overseas expansion.
The priority is to ensure that diaspora Romanians have access to books, given that the cost of shipping from Romania often exceeds the cost of the volume itself.
“The first direction is to open offices in countries with a large Romanian diaspora. We have already launched a website dedicated to the Republic of Moldova. High transportation costs make it difficult to access printed books from Romania, and we want to contact Romanians abroad,” Florin Enceanu said.
In Moldova, the company has already copied Bookzone Romania’s business model.
“In Moldova we have opened an online bookstore similar to Bookzone Romania. We want to offer the same services here as in Romania,” the entrepreneur said. He added that the online bookstore is already operational and the first 1,000 orders, including more than 4,000 book titles, have already been delivered.
This model is planned to be used in Italy and the UK as well, where Bookzone plans to work with local warehouses.
“We want the same thing in Italy and England: to offer a specialized online bookstore for these countries with its own warehouse, as fast as possible and, most importantly, offering delivery at much better prices than in Romania, since right now the cost of delivery exceeds the cost of the book,” he explained.
The second strategic direction for 2026 is the creation of an online bookstore with artificial intelligence, designed to provide personalized recommendations.
Florin Enceanu says his goal is to become as similar as possible to a regular bookstore.
In parallel, Bookzone is working on integrating all formats into a single ecosystem: “The third direction is to give readers the opportunity to access any publication in print, e-book or audiobook format within an integrated ecosystem.”
It should be recalled that the Moldovan government, in turn, is currently actively working in the opposite direction: it is studying the issue of taxing all online purchases abroad with VAT and customs duties, with no price limit.
