Moldovan rapeseed oil was sold to the EU market – to Bulgaria and Romania – for further production of sustainable second-generation HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil) biodiesel. High-protein meal was also sold on the European market – supplied to Italy.
Trans-Oil representatives note that by including the new refining complex into the system of industrial facilities of the group of companies a number of important tasks are solved. Firstly, an extended production cycle is formed – from cultivation of a wide range of oilseed raw materials to production of a wide range of products with high added value. Secondly, the processing season is lengthened. If previously in Moldova the active season of oilseed raw material processing, namely sunflower, started in the fall, then due to the launch of the new plant operating on rapeseed, the start of the season is shifted to June-July.
“We are continuing our strategy of deepening the processing of raw materials domestically. This production complex is not just a set of equipment, it is an investment in the sustainable development of Moldova as an agro-industrial country. We create a product with high added value and keep it in the country’s economy,” said Vaja Jhashi, Chairman of the Board of Trans-Oil Group.
