This is stipulated in the financing agreement signed by the management of the museum and the Chisinau Regional Development Agency.
According to the agency, after completion of the works, the Museum of Ethnography will receive more than 1,800 square meters of modernized premises for cultural and scientific events, exhibitions, educational activities and master classes on the restoration of objects of historical value. A significant increase in the number of visitors is also expected (about 70,000 people visit the museum annually), which will contribute to the development of tourism and stimulate the local economy.
The Museum of Ethnography and Natural History is considered the country’s calling card. “We are investing in the restoration of a building that represents an important part of our national identity. The facility will turn into a modern cultural center, but it will preserve the historical heritage to bring the public closer to our history and traditions and attract more tourists from the country and abroad,” said Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolia.
