The club “Real Sireți” became the winner of the third draw of the tournament organized annually by the Moldovan Football Federation (FMF) in February in preparation for the spring part of the season. This year, 11 clubs participated in the tournament, the only representatives of the Super League were the players of “Dacia-Buiucani”. The capital club failed to defend the Winter Cup title won last year.
Without defeat
The final match took place in Chisinau at the “Real-Succes” stadium. The match was preceded by the group tournament, in which the club from Sirec won all five matches.
Their opponents were Dacia-Buiucani (2:2, 6:5 on penalties), Comrat-based Olimp (4:3) and Univer (4:2), Spartanii-Sportul from the Cimisliai district (1:0) and Iskra from Ribnita (2:0).
Dacia-Buiucani club defeated Sheriff’s understudies 4:2 and took the final third place. The match took place in the arena of the Sheriff complex in Tiraspol.
The doubles team of “Zimbru” from Chisinau took the fifth place, defeating “Olimp” with the score 6:2. “Spartanii-Sportul” in a match that ended with a score of 2:0 were stronger than the club “Oguz” (Comrat, ATU Gagauzia) and took seventh place.
The match for the ninth place between “Politehnica-UTM” and “Iskra” ended in favor of the “technicians” (4:1). “Univer” scored the fewest points among the participants of the group tournament and automatically took the 11th place.
