Within this group of goods, as noted by experts of the Association of Exporters of Agrocereale, there is an uneven distribution. Wheat dominates – more than 45% of the total volume of physical exports (almost 43 thousand tons). In value terms, its share is much smaller and only the second position – only one third in the monetary structure of foreign supplies (gross revenue – about 180.4 million lei). Wheat is followed by corn – almost 36% of physical exports (34 thousand tons) and 28% of cash receipts (152 million lei).
The situation with sunflower exports is most interesting. On the one hand, it accounted for only 17% of physical exports (16 thousand tons). On the other hand, in the monetary ranking of export goods, it is the first place and the largest share – almost 36% (190 million lei). With all the agronomic costs of this crop, it firmly holds the status of the most profitable for the farmer out of the whole range of field crops.
However, despite the obvious dominance of raw materials in the structure of Moldova’s agro-food exports, the importance and high potential of products with high added value cannot be ignored. Thus, confectionery and related finished food products, occupying only 1.66% of the physical volume of exports, brought more than 10% of cash proceeds from exports.
