According to Sergei Tutovan, Chairman of the Cahul Region Table Grape Producers Association, the first wave of September rains, which were accompanied by a sharp drop in air temperature, created a problem for winegrowers. This week’s precipitation is less dangerous, as almost the entire country has cooled down to almost the fall norm of recent years. In addition, at least some vineyards have had time to preventively apply anti-cracking preparations in the vineyards.
In any case, precipitation and cold weather will certainly postpone and prolong the mass harvesting of late varieties of grapes. This is always a risk of reducing both the quality and quantity of production. Taking into account the change in weather conditions, it is not excluded that experts will adjust the assessment of harvest and export of table grapes.
Earlier, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry MAIA voiced a forecast, according to which in 2025 the harvest of table grapes in Moldova will be close to 150 thousand tons, export – 100 thousand tons.
