“Prof. Emil Ceban, doctor of habilitate medical sciences and rector of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, has been proposed for the post of Minister of Health. Vladislav Cojuhar, the current Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has been proposed for the post of Minister of Justice. Journalist and media manager Cristian Jardan, who served as a political advisor in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Dorin Receanu, has been proposed for the post of Minister of Culture,” Munteanu announced on his social network page.

He noted that consultations will continue “in order to form a team capable of implementing a government plan that will bring prosperity to citizens and ensure economic growth on our country’s path to joining the European Union.”

A day earlier, Alexandru Munteanu held a big meeting with business representatives.

“The purpose of these discussions is to understand what are the challenges and priorities in the economic field, so that the future government program will be built on real solutions and in partnership with the private sector. We discussed access to European funds and support for innovation, continued digitalization of public services, labor market and access to capital, adaptation and modernization of agriculture, as well as many other relevant topics,” Munteanu said.

The Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Moldova (AFAM), whose representatives were present at the meeting, conveyed to the candidate its wishes: more attention of the authorities to women’s business, support for the return of women to start their own businesses and a consistent policy to reduce gender gaps in the economy.

Commenting on the process of forming the team and the first announced candidates for the new cabinet, political analyst Andrei Curăraru noted, in particular, that it is “a cabinet without any striking figures, but with people who have a good understanding of how the state apparatus works.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu told the ZdG podcast that some of the current ministers will retain their portfolios in Munteanu’s government. “It would be incorrect to say that I don’t know them, but it would be better to be informed by him personally,” Grosu said.

Meanwhile, the media are discussing that the following may keep their posts: Mihail Popşoi – in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vladimir Bolia – in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Dan Perciun – in the Ministry of Education, Anatolie Nosatii – in the Ministry of Defense, Alexei Buzu – in the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, and Cristina Gerasimov will remain Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration.

The full list of future cabinet members is expected to be announced at the beginning of the week.
