The size of the new (May) prices has not been announced yet. But the process itself is labeled as something inevitable.
The administration of the Patronage of the Meat Processing Industry PÎIPC states that seasonal warming is cited as one of the main reasons for the announced price increase for chilled pork for the domestic “frosh” market. Accordingly, the costs of production and transportation logistics, which require strict adherence to the temperature regime for perishable products, will increase.
Another argument is the increase in wholesale pork prices in the European Union, namely in Germany, incidentally reflected even in the world meat price index in the April FAO release.
To see how relevant the latter argument is, read Friday’s edition of the weekly Logos Press.
