PCRM, PSRM, Inima Moldovei and Viitorul Moldovei go to the polls as a single bloc

These are the Party of Communists (PCRM) of former President Vladimir Voronin, the Party of Socialists (PSRM) of former President Igor Dodon, the Inima Moldovei of the former governor of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, and the Viitorul Moldovei, headed by former Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev.

PSRM President Igor Dodon expressed confidence that the party leaders and teams will be able to find a common language, “will show political maturity and responsibility and will put the interests of the people above party interests”. At the same time, he expressed fear that the PAS party “will try to put obstacles in the way of creating a bloc”.

The leader of the Inima Moldovei party, Irina Vlah, said that “the creation of a single electoral bloc will be a countdown point for the yellow regime”. At the same time, she believes that the struggle will be difficult, “because the CEC and the Constitutional Court are under the full control of the PAS”. Vlach emphasized that the bloc has no plans to enter into a coalition with PAS in the future parliament.

The chairman of the Viitorul Moldovei party, Vasile Tarlev, said that four key principles were the basis of the unification: independence and sovereignty, territorial integrity, neutrality, and prosperity of Moldova.

At the same time, PCRM leader Vladimir Voronin expressed skepticism about the creation of the bloc:

“I do not share the optimism of my colleagues. The formation of an electoral bloc is a very complicated and labor-intensive process. And if any of us is guided by selfish or group interests, proving that his party is the best, this meeting will be nothing but a memory.

The decision to create a bloc to participate in the fall parliamentary elections must be registered with the Central Election Commission.

We would like to remind you that the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) was the first to apply for registration of the list of candidates for the September 28 parliamentary elections. It will be number 1 on the ballot paper.

The second application was submitted by the Democrația Acasă party, which will be on the second line of the ballot.

Several potential independent candidates have also submitted applications to the CEC, including former PAS vice chairperson Olesi Stamate and former leader of the Demnitate și Adevăr Platform Andrei Năstase.
