
The day was established by the UN General Assembly to recall the role of young people in developing and building peace and the everyday challenges that stand in their way.
On August 15, Digital Park in Chisinau will host an international conference where young people will be able to express their ideas, ask questions, discuss current topics and learn how young people can contribute to building a fair, inclusive and open country.
And on August 16, the Youth Festival will be held in the Veronica Michele square, where the problems of education, entrepreneurship, international cooperation, art, music, etc. will be discussed.
From August 8 to 12, Kaushany, Rezina and Cimislia hosted the Youth Caravan, a series of local events aimed at bringing local resources, useful information and development opportunities closer to young people. Youth Day itself was celebrated on August 12 in Edineti – the city became the Youth Capital of Moldova in 2025. The program envisages a budget of 3 million lei for the implementation of various youth activities and projects.
The World Youth Report published in 2020 estimates that the number of young people aged between 15 and 24 is 1.21 billion, which corresponds to 15.5 per cent of the world population. This youth cohort is projected to reach 1.29 billion by 2030 and nearly 1.34 billion by 2050.
The Youth Week is organized by the National Youth Council of Moldova with the support of the European Union, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Government of Switzerland, the Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and the Danish Youth Council. The events are held in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research and the National Agency for the Development of Youth Programs and Activities.
