The 2026 ceremony marked a historical record, writes BBC: the statuette for the best cameraman’s work was awarded to a woman for the first time in history. Also this year, the award for best casting was presented for the first time. In the short film category, a rare precedent was set – the American Film Academy awarded two films at once.
