According to the latest statistics, from January to October 2024, the largest share of the total passenger traffic was made up of Moldovan citizens – 32% (1,179 thousand passengers). They are followed by Ukraine with 27% (977 thousand passengers) and Romania with 21% (774 thousand passengers).

Among citizens of other countries Russia took 3% (117 thousand), Israel – 3% (108 thousand), Italy – 2% (74 thousand), USA – 2% (59 thousand).

The category “Other citizens” includes 10% of those arriving and departing from Chisinau (361 thousand people).

At the same time, passenger traffic is still growing.

Thus, in October 2025, 586,985 passengers were served, which is 108.7% of the projected value and 42.7% more than in the same period last year. This is equivalent to more than 175,000 additional passengers.

The data indicate the strengthening of the position of the airport of the capital of Moldova as the main regional transportation hub.

The growth was due to the increase in the number of routes, the growing interest of airlines in the Moldovan market, as well as increased passenger demand for direct flights to European and resort destinations.
