Victory over a Turkish woman in the finals
In the first round Diachenko defeated Yagmur Yilmaz from Turkey, and in the semifinals – Tolkyn Tursynakynova from Kazakhstan. The 23-year-old Moldovan athlete won the gold medal in a duel with another representative of Turkey – Duygu Dirgen. Yilmaz and Tursynakynova became bronze medalists.
Highest achievement in career
For Oksana Dyachenko, the gold medal was the first in her professional career. She has repeatedly won medals in European competitions among youth and cadets, but she has never placed higher than second place before.
More than 300 athletes from 32 countries took part in the European Cup stage in Croatia. Judokas played 14 sets of medals (seven each among women and men).
