The municipality issued 990 building permits for residential and non-residential buildings in 2024, a decrease of 9.6% from 2023. For residential buildings, 851 building permits were issued (minus 9.9%). Of the total number of building construction permits, 54.8% were in rural areas.
The situation is particularly dismal for the commissioning of completed housing. In 2024, in Chisinau municipality, 2662 residential objects (apartments and individual houses) were built and put into operation, which is 2.1 times less than in 2023. Their total area amounted to 200.9 thousand square meters, which is also twice less than a year earlier. In 2024, 2302 residential units were commissioned in urban areas, which is only 42.2% in relation to 2023.
During the last year there was also a decrease in the volume of completed construction works by 3.5% (in comparable prices).
In terms of structural elements, the volume of works in new construction (by 3.3%), in capital repair (by 17.8%) and the volume of other construction works (demolition of buildings, development of territories for construction, etc.) decreased by 4.6% in 2024.
At the same time, the volume of works on current maintenance and repair increased by 20.8% compared to 2023.
In 2024, there was an increase (in comparable prices) in the volume of construction works performed on residential buildings by 16.2% and on other works by 20.8%. At the same time, the volume of works on non-residential facilities decreased by 12.1%, and on engineering facilities – by 10.1%.
In Q4 2024, the volume of construction works decreased by 0.6% (in comparable prices) compared to Q4 2023. This was due to the decrease in the volume of works in new construction by 3.8% and capital repair by 14.4%. At the same time, the volume of works in maintenance and current repair increased by 34.1%.
At the same time, in the 4th quarter there was noted an increase (in comparable prices) in the volumes of construction works performed in housing construction by 17.9% and engineering structures by 1.9%. And construction works on erection of non-residential buildings decreased by 6.0% compared to the same period of 2023.
