The Romanian president also said that Bucharest and Warsaw remain committed to supporting Ukraine and Moldova in their accession to the EU.
“Today I had a fruitful and productive meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Romania’s and Poland’s shared responsibility to strengthen the security of our continent and the future of the European project. Against the backdrop of geopolitical changes, our strategic partnership and bilateral cooperation is an essential pillar of European stability. We are committed to building a more united and competitive Europe, prioritizing innovation and a future EU budget focused on development, security and sustainability. By developing deep economic and industrial cooperation between our countries, we are building a strong European defense base capable of deterring threats from our region and beyond,” Dan wrote.
Nikushore Dan visited Warsaw on Thursday at the invitation of President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki. Dan’s visit to Poland took place within the framework of the Romanian-Polish Solidarity Day, celebrated on March 3, the day on which the “Convention on the Defensive Alliance between the Kingdom of Romania and the Republic of Poland” was signed in 1921.
“We agreed to intensify defense cooperation within NATO, where a strong eastern flank remains a guarantee of security for all European citizens. Romania and Poland also remain committed to supporting Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova on their path to European integration,” Nicusor Dan said in a message on the X network.
