She noted that Germany’s support will be continued both through the European Union and through bilateral assistance. Germany will support Moldova’s European vector, projects to strengthen energy efficiency, equip schools and hospitals, modernize the national army and police.
Dorin Recean emphasized that Germany is Moldova’s biggest donor, which accounts for 25 per cent of the total volume of the foreign assistance to Moldova.
“Only for the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, Germany provided 33 million euros in 2025 and 40 million euros in 2023. In total, this country has provided assistance worth 230 million euros since 2022, supporting both crisis response measures and reforms launched. Among the biggest German projects is the modernization of the water supply network in Cahul, worth 8 million euros. This investment is part of a larger program, worth over 54 million euros, contributing to energy efficiency and social infrastructure. In addition to the construction of a school and kindergarten in Dorotcaia and Micleşti, the German donor supports dual education in vocational training centers in Chisinau, Balti, Comrat, Hincesti, Soroca, etc.”.
Economically, Germany is the fifth largest trading partner and the seventh largest investor in terms of capital. More than 400 companies are operating in Moldova, providing thousands of jobs, among them Draxlmaier Group, Kaufland, Obermeyer Group.
“Moldova has huge potential. Even despite the war on the border, we have areas and industries that can generate growth and prosperity for all,” the Moldovan Prime Minister emphasized.
