Interested persons are obliged to submit an electronic travel declaration on the official portal https://eta.gov.lv/ru/ no later than 48 hours before entering Latvia, indicating the following information: personal data; data of the passport used for travel; purpose of travel (entry); planned period and place of stay; travel route; contact information (phone, e-mail); elective positions held by the person or his/her relatives, running for election; current or previous status of a state or municipal official.
This obligation applies both to travel with final destination in Latvia and to transit through the territory of Latvia. Confirmation of data transfer is generated automatically to the e-mail address specified in the declaration.
Submission of the electronic travel declaration does not cancel the necessity to fulfill other conditions – possession of a relevant/valid travel document and the right of entry.
Failure to fulfill obligations or providing false/incomplete data may result in administrative sanctions. The transmitted data is checked by the competent Latvian authorities and if a risk is detected, entry to the country may be refused.
