The financing agreements for these two projects were signed by the Regional Development Agency “North”, the Balti Mayor’s Office, the Vasile Alexandri National Theater and the Ministry of Culture.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the agro-food market will be created on an area of 1.6 hectares with covered trading areas, paved alleys and green spaces. About 135 local producers and 250 entrepreneurs from Balti and the region will have access to the market. It is expected that monthly more than 15 thousand consumers will receive local products directly from the producer.
The second project is aimed at restoring the roof of the Vasile Alexandri National Theater, an architectural monument of national importance and the only theater of national status in the northern region of the country. The reconstruction works will cover an area of more than 4100 square meters. The project will improve the working conditions for 104 employees of the institution and will contribute to increasing the access of the population to cultural events.
Speaking about the importance of these two projects, Minister Vladimir Bolia said that the modern market is “first of all, a civilized and fair space where a Moldovan producer, be it a small enterprise or a household, can sell his surplus with dignity and respect for people. In terms of economic growth, such markets bring significant benefits to the local producer and directly contribute to the development of the local economic environment”.
The projects are funded by the National Regional and Local Development Fund and are being implemented with the support of the Regional Development Agency North in partnership with local authorities.
