NBM President Anca Dragu sent a congratulatory message to all employees of Moldovan banking institutions. She noted that the banking system is the “heart” of the economy, which keeps it alive, and the National Bank is “a modern, independent, transparent and visionary institution that guides Moldova’s path towards a solid and European economy”.
“We are an active part of the accession process to the European Union, a project which, besides reforms and convergence, is a guarantee of peace, stability and a common future in the European family. The reforms of recent years: the introduction of the MIA instant payment system, the admission to the SEPA zone, the fight against illicit finance and the digitalization of banking processes are not just technical achievements. They are signs of a new heartbeat: healthy, European, transparent. At the heart of these efforts are banking professionals, those who are ensuring stability, rethinking financial instruments and creating a banking system that is safer, more transparent and closer to the people,” she said.
Anca Dragu said that for 34 years, the NBM has had reliable friends – central banks with which it has shared common values, especially the National Bank of Romania. And reliable international partners, such as the European Union, IMF, World Bank and other institutions, which provided support through dialog, trust and real cooperation.
“However, the most important partner remains the citizen. In recent years, more and more people have crossed our threshold: at the NBM Museum, at public events, at financial education classes. This shows us that there is a genuine desire for intimacy, for learning, for engagement in understanding the economic mechanisms that affect our lives. We have an ambitious agenda before us: European integration, digital innovation and strengthening the financial system that supports sustainable economic growth and the well-being of every citizen. And we are ready to build it together, with great courage and determination,” said the President of the National Bank.
The Banking Worker’s Day is celebrated in Moldova on June 4. It was on this day in 1991 that the National Bank of Moldova was founded. Currently, there are 11 banks in Moldova, employing about 8.4 thousand people.
