Muravski: Moldova has drifted away from EU parameters in almost all directions

Moldova has been waiting for more than three years for the start of negotiations on joining the EU, but during these years it has only drifted away from the European standards in all fields, says former Deputy Prime Minister and former Economics Minister Alexandru Muravski.

“A year ago, they were happy that Moldova had finished screening its clusters and the clusters of its rulers, combed them and was entering the final phase – the phase of negotiations. But they have not started in any way. This is because there is no unity in the EU on this issue, because Moldova has not only not approached, but also distanced itself from the EU parameters in almost all directions during Maia Sandu’s rule,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

He said that instead, the republic is entering the phase of technical negotiations, then there will be “negotiations on polishing what has been achieved in the technical negotiations, and then on negotiations on polishing what has been polished, etc.”. Muravski also said that European countries thus imitate openness towards Moldova.

“As many as 24 successful reforms have been attributed to us. So, we don’t need amazing successes, let it be modest but good,” Muravski concluded.

In June 2022, the EU granted Ukraine and Moldova the status of candidate countries. The EU has repeatedly admitted that this decision was mostly symbolic in order to support Kiev and Chisinau in their confrontation with Moscow.
