
Prime Minister of Moldova Alexandru Munteanu and Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Luc Frieden
The meeting took place in the framework of participation in the 56th annual World Economic Forum in Davos.
“We have a clear common vision: to build a European future based on peace, security and prosperity for our citizens,” the Moldovan prime minister said.
In addition, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu highlighted the favorable economic climate for investments in Moldova, especially for business people willing to open companies in the IT, energy and infrastructure sectors. In this context, the prime minister listed measures to boost the economic development, including: market liberalization, reduction of bureaucracy, modernization of the infrastructure, as well as the reform of the local self-government.
For his part, Luxembourg’s prime minister emphasized that he backs the Chisinau authorities’ efforts to carry out reforms that will improve the living conditions of the Moldovan citizens and will further back the European integration process, noting the progress made by Moldova.
The officials also discussed the development of cooperation in order to implement the best practices in the following sectors: energy, finance and banking, anti-corruption and asset recovery, emergency management and combating terrorism.
There are 23 enterprises with Luxembourg capital operating in Moldova. The volume of invested capital exceeds 211 million lei. Luxembourg ranks 14th in terms of investments in the Moldovan economy.
