More than 7 million lei invested in the microclimate of archival repositories

In 2025, the National Archives Agency invested 7.05 million lei to modernize the microclimate and fire protection systems of its repositories, so that historical documents are stored in optimal conditions.

More than 7 million lei invested in the microclimate of archival repositories

The climatic systems were modernized in three storage facilities. The works were carried out by the G4Z company at a cost of 2,079,245 lei. In the other three storages, the automatic gas fire extinguishing system was adjusted. These works were carried out by the company ISS SISTEM SRL at a cost of 4,975,996 lei.

According to the agency’s report, in 2025, the institution carried out a large-scale work on the preservation of documents. Specialists checked and processed thousands of files, restored more than 53,250 damaged pages, bound more than 1,500 files and carefully packed almost 8,000 files in protective paper.

Special attention was paid to audiovisual materials: over 240 kilometers of film and 16,000 photographic documents were processed. As part of the restoration of the collections, almost 66,000 sheets were restored, including books, newspapers and large-format documents.

“Digitalization of History”

In 2026, the National Archives Agency will focus on the digitalization of documents. The government recently approved the concept of the of the “e-Arhiva“, which, according to the agency, was a historic step in preserving the national archival heritage. The system will be integrated with the government e-services MCloud, MSign, MPass and MConnect.

In the state budget for the current year, the Ministry of Justice, which is in charge of the National Archive Agency, has allocated almost 30 million lei for archive services.
