
These data were presented by economic analyst Veaceslav Ionitsa on the occasion of the City Day, which is celebrated on October 14.
According to the expert, the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita in Chisinau is four times higher than in the rest of Moldova, and this difference continues to grow annually.
“We create and contribute 65-70% of the national capital of Moldova’s economy. And 90% of all real estate investments, which represent future savings, are concentrated here. This is a perspective, and this trend has not changed in the last 30 years”, Veaceslav Ionita said.
The number of employed people in Chisinau is 2.4 times the national average, increasing from 289,000 in 2015 to about 312,000 in 2023.
As for the turnover of the capital’s enterprises, it has grown significantly, from over 200 billion lei in 2017 to about 350 billion lei in 2022.
In addition, Chisinau enterprises account for about 70% of Moldova’s total sales, and the turnover per capita in the municipality is six times higher than the national average.
